Children and Sports

Children and sport, a big controversy, on one hand the US is known for the drive to succeed in sport activities on the other hand there is this over protective behaviour versus children. Some years ago in a soccer game between two 9-year local boys teams, featuring my son Jorrit, one is not allowed to win with a score higher than 5 goals because it will have a demoralizing effect on the children. Obviously the kids did forget the score by the time they finished their drinks and other goodies it were the parents who continued for days, really, to complain about the soccer score from last Saturday and how it was a big shame for the coach of that team to happen! In France we experienced a game between 13 year olds, featuring my daughter Dagmar, of the Paris St Germain team crashing a local team from Limay with 22-0, PSG was just stronger and Limay needs to work harder in the future, these were the comments after the game from both camps! This would have caused local crises in the US.
