Professionally Alcatel-Lucent is bought by Nokia and the new company is expected to be operational by March / April 2016. In the company the positioning dance started already as this will undoubtedly effect operational synergies and thus jobs! I started a position in the newly created Global Enterprise / Public Sector division. Thats quite excited.
Personally I had a good summer with a focus on sports, lots of running as i am preparing for the 20K de Paris on Oct 11 and i had great bike rides in the hills of Lucca. What a nice city and great environment for biking. A few weeks earlier I worked for a few days in Vimercate, a town with a technology business park between Milan and Monza, and an evening in Monza inspired me to go back to Italy again for a summer break. The scenery, the town and its centers, the apero's, full bodied wine, simple and delicious food and much more. Italy has tons of political, social and economical challenges and issues, nonetheless the intrinsic beauty and lifestyle remains admirable. To finish the Italy trip i visited my former BMG colleague John Voigtmann who created with his wife Ondine, La Bandita in Tuscany's Orca region and La Bandita Townhouse in Pienza, a very fine high end boutique hotel. It was a great experience to be there and see how two people were able to fulfil their dream.
Highlight of the summer was the civil wedding of our son Jorrit with Charlotte Kirk, this remarkable event took place in Wandsworth on September 5, 2015. In good father an son tradition we had an early morning run in Wandsworth Commons, took an Uber to Townhall, discovered he forgot the flowers and his ring was kind of tight! What else is new, it was a great ceremony concluded with Dylan's "I Want You". Yes maybe there is some influence!
