On a regular working day I probably will look 3 times per hour at my watch. When I need to go somewhere the frequency will increase at least double. The same happens when I have guests at home. There is a kind of unease when you know people need to catch a plane or train. How many coffees, large or small breakfast, still time for a morning run, lunch where, picking the luggage and than the ride to station. That is usually a quick drop off at the RER in St Germain en Laye. Its a short 10 minute ride but you never know, heavy traffic, construction etc and a lot more can happen. As host you don't want your guests, most of the time my kids, being late and missing their transportation. Hence my wrist watch, and I am proud to say I possess a few nice ones, are getting super attention from my eyes. If my watch has a brain he would think, OMG, here is this nut again how many times per hour can I digest his face. Interesting to know that hardly anybody ask for the time anymore, thus something like " Sir, do you happen to know what time it is?". It has not been asked to me during the last five years. Time is everywhere, it's on any device, on large or small clocks on walls, in bars, cafes and restaurants, public places, offices etc.
Usually animals don't wear a watch and are not checking time they have this natural instinct about time when time is linked to eating or taking a walk outside. The dogs in my life Cosmo and Charlie were absolute masters at knowing what time it is, with margins of 5 minutes they come to me with "Hey....it's dinner time or please take me for a walk or run".
So today it's December 30, 2012 my son Paul is heading back to The Hague with the Thalys at 6:25PM from Gare du Nord and yet the day is packed with activities such as running, playing 9 holes and a few other chores. We will probably leave my house at 5:15 PM. My watch will see my face numerous times today and I am not sure if he is happy with that. What I know and recognize about time....there is never enough of it!
