Doggy bag in Rio

For thirteen years I have lived and worked in the New York Metro Area. My profession always took me to some of the best places to eat, discover new food trends, enjoy the finest of the finest and more. The same pattern occurred in London, Paris, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and of course the numerous places I have travelled across the entire globe. I consider myself extremely privileged to be able to experience this professionally and as a private person I simply enjoy the good things in life!

Today I experienced a premiere! I accepted a doggy back after the meal, Yep! I could not finish the meal!  It was in the pizza galore place called Braz, in Rio's Barra Da Tijuca, very close to the beach.

An extraordinary concept, the waiters serve every piece of a pizza pie separately on your plate with a nice ritual of adding the home brand extra virgin olive oil. Since I truly love good pizzas, I think a good pizza can be an everyday meal, the one here at Braz was simple but very good one, named the Paulistana. I did not memorize the menu but i think they have a choice of about 35 varieties and a reasonably good and interesting winelist and there is a bar and restaurant Braz is a spacious place, I think fairly trendy, with a knowledgeable, attentive waitstaff and for Monday night it was pretty busy. As is common in Rio, it was not a cheap pizza, nor caiparinha.....but the quality was very good.

After settling the bill, I walked away with an elegant "doggy bag", and actually felt pretty good about it...
