Running in Fresh Snow!

Saturday and again today Sunday it was a fantastic run in the heavy snow. After a week of not running at all I could not handle it anymore, I had to run. It was a stressful week with some disruptive news on personal and professional levels and than you realize how important it is to get the Asics, with the right warm running gear, iPod loaded with my Fred's Team playlist and of I go. Up the long hill to the station of St. Nom than another hill and finally the Forest de Marly!  There were a few other runners, some people trying their cross country ski's, people walking with their dogs and I noticed a young deer searching for food. The majority of people stayed home afteral it's cold, its snowing and the roads are dangerous.

Running in fresh powder snow is to some degree similar to running on a beach, it's heavy, use the muscles differently and feel like you need much more energy than required for a normal run. The nature and in particular the forest get such an immaculate makeover when fresh snow covers up the threes, the small hills, the paths. It's simply beautiful and very inspiring. It was just an amazing experience and afteral I must prepare myself for the Paris Half Marathon on March 3. There is no excuse I need the miles and this weekend it was only 22K but special ones.

Yesterday I learned from our corporation that the requirements for 2013 are X more in profit contribution (dollars, not percentages) and a Y% head count reduction that means also 2013 will be an incredible difficult year, or in other words, we better be prepared and get ready! Running on my own in the nature provides me such a great deal of excitement and makes it much easier to deal with the complexity and problems of today.  Most of the time I also find solutions and ideas that are out of the box some are real and can be realized. Sometimes its only a dream, or an illusion and i had just fund thinking about it. The reality is that it really does not matter to much, running is well spend quality time and i still believe good for the body. The reward is always after the run with water, a nice shower followed by a strong espresso, pas mal!

Life is not bad.....running is great for body and soul because how else can one deal in this world with an overflow of good and bad news, enormous challenges and stiff mountains to climb. On this topic it's word reading Haruki Murakami, What I talk about when I talk about running.

Tomorrow, Monday morning the traffic will be a mess, trains not running, guess what i will be doing?
