Christmas, it's a Family Affair

Christmas was by far the most important Dubois Family event. In Roosendaal, New York, Paris and recently Villars. It was serious snacking, cooking, the consome, cocktails and exquisite wines. We exchanged gifts, discussed the year and shared stories. A sizzling fireplace and a Christmas tree decorated with new ornaments and golden oldies! We played a range of Christmas songs from Lennon to Andy Williams with of course Inge’s favorite Chris Rea’s “I’ll be home for Christmas”.

For Omy it was important that we dressed up for dinner, the boys rarely followed this unwritten rule but Moeder, Wanda, Inge, Dagmar and later Charlotte appeared “chic” at the dinner table, Omy smiled! To me this was the sign it’s game on: it’s Christmas! After serious cooking the ladies were dressed in-style and we focused on the meal. A well-set table, place cards, a wine decanter as we drank some of the finest wines, creative and traditional cooking leading to stunning dishes! Wanda always had to travel to join and never forgot to bring her Christmas outfit along. Mother and daughter shined!

As we indulged our delicacies, enjoyed the great wines and sipped digestives we got tired of these Christmas songs which means it’s Bee Gees time with World, Spicks and Specks, Massachusetts and more which was the prelude of some more rock and roll and dancing!

This year’s Christmas will be different so let’s remember what we’ve had, prepare to preserve and renew such a rich tradition and make sure we optimize this year’s Christmas time with our Families!

Invest in family and friends

With time and generosity

As we learned it this year

never forget to seize the day

Merry Christmas!
