Last night I was caught by a movie/documentary (YouTube attached) about the Kinks. Since you grew up with me endlessly playing Days, Preservation Society, Waterloo Sunset, Sunny Afternoon and many more I know you are very familiar with the band and their laid back music. Watching this docu in the midst of the Brexit mess I also realized how particular the UK is and how articulate the Kinks sang about real life and the common people with their worries and pleasures on the island: football and Sunday roast! From the simple blokes to the dedicated followers of fashion. The movie is about 1:10 hrs with great interferences of a.o. Paul Weller, Nathalie Merchant, Noel Gallagher and "Jorrit" Suggs from Madness. Think I told you there was a bar in Roosendaal "Het Koetshuis" (also familiar territory for Wanda and Leo W) and every Saturday night after 1AM they only played the Kinks, as a serious football player it wasn't always easy for me to go there but when I had an occasion it was very special! My prediction is that once Ray and Dave Davies are no longer around you will see additional attention for the Kinks and young bands and singers discover how unique this band was. Be ready!
As a fan I found the movie most enjoyable, as "forced listeners" I think you appreciate the insights and backgrounds of this very special band.
