Today 5 years ago Paris, Stade de France, La Belle Équipe, 4 more cafes and Eagles of Death Metal in Bataclan.....the rest we know. Just watched the Netflix documentary, a +2 our production with interviews with police, firefighters, also Francois Hollande, Annie Hidalgo the mayor of Paris and survivors. It makes me just sad, silent That Friday the 13th November in 2015 I watched the whole thing live on BFM and Saturday and Sunday I just walked alone in Paris.....stopped at some cafes, had coffee and basically crying. Two colleagues from Alcatel-Lucent were at the concert in the Bataclan, Theresa Sede and Stephane Lapeyrade. Theresa was a good friend and after the event we've had a few conversations. It was shocking and I was utterly surprised how she was able to talk about this and sometimes in great detail. Therese is a big fan of the Foo Fighters and she said during the time she was laying on the ground in the fosse (the pit) of the theatre she was singing two songs of the Foo Fighters, "Learning to Fly" and "Everlong". One week after this massacre U2 was scheduled to have 2 concerts in Bercy, they were postponed to February 2016, I went to the show. It was hyper tight security and i must confess the first 30 minutes I felt very uncomfortable, dark concert hall, 15.000 people and how to get out of the pace in case..... Halfway the performance Bono placed a the French tricolore on Larry Mullen's drumset and to my big surprise after their encore Bono introduced the Eagles of Death Metal (these guys were playing at the Bataclan when the terrorists started their massacre)...the audience gave a 10 minute standing ovation after this U2 and E.O.D played Patti Smith' "Power to the People", I don't think there was anyone in the section I was sitting/standing without tears in their eyes. This was an incredible emotional experience.

Friday the 13th 2015 for always that night in Paris
Above Jesse Hughes in front of Cafe Bataclan a few days after the attack. This awful terrorist attack made a huge impression to me and remains an event I will never ever forget and realize we shall never ever take freedom for granted.
